A Storage is an Elipse Power's historian module developed to improve database usage, allowing that a certain information be stored by occupying the smallest possible space.

There is a whole set of specific functionality for this module, such as pre-built queries and data compression algorithms, among others. With this tool, users can retrieve with great accuracy all changes in process variables, while occupying the minimum space on a database.

Using a Storage is strongly recommended for processes where the recording goal is to follow trends that need to keep essential information from that process. Through a widely spread mathematical algorithm, a Storage can provide relevant information of a certain process and still occupy less space on disk than data stored by a periodically saved Historic.

On processes where data must be precise, such as measurements used for input billing, such as water, power, or gas, or processes where data must be summed during a certain period, using conventional Historical objects is recommended.
