Driver Status |
A Driver has four distinct statuses:
•Stopped
•Offline (started)
•Disconnected (started, online)
•Connected (started, online)
The Stopped status happens when a Driver is not executing or loaded (usually, when an application is being configured).
As soon as an application is executed, a Driver enters the Offline mode. In this status, minimum conditions for execution were detected (basically, Driver's DLL was loaded), and this Driver waits for more configurations of parameters or for a command to enter the Online status.
The Online status can be presented in two different ways: connected or disconnected. A Driver is disconnected when its physical layer is still not capable of transmitting or receiving data. A Driver is connected when its physical layer is ready to be used.
NOTE |
Statuses defined in this topic only apply to a physical layer. When the physical layer is connected, a Driver can access a device (IED), but it may still not respond. Connecting a physical layer is a good start, but make sure to check Driver-specific Tags that report a device status. |
