A Storage is an Elipse Power's historian module developed to improve database usage, allowing that a certain information be stored by occupying the smallest possible space.

There is a whole set of specific functionality for this module, such as pre-built queries and data compression algorithms, among others. With this tool, users can retrieve with great accuracy all changes in process variables, while occupying the minimum space on a database.

Using a Storage is strongly recommended for processes where the recording goal is to follow trends that need to keep essential information from that process. Through a widely spread mathematical algorithm, a Storage can provide relevant information of a certain process and still occupy less space on disk than data stored by a periodically saved Historic.

On processes where data must be precise, such as measurements used for input billing (water, power, or gas), or processes where data must be summed during a certain period, using conventional Historical objects is recommended.
