Elipse Power

Elipse Power integrates into a single environment all necessary information for the operation process in Power Networks with maximized cost-effectiveness and reliability. Through real-time data acquisition, corporate systems integration, analysis tools and management reports, power operators are able to take the right decisions in a fast and reliable way, promoting network efficiency and minimizing economical and environmental impacts.

In an ever-growing power network complexity, with market deregulation and other constraints, Elipse Power was built with the always-changing paradigm in mind, where smart grid applications can be a reality.

Elipse Power is based on Elipse E3 framework, thus users can work with Elipse E3 applications, as well as using any previous tool knowledge of that software.

Elipse Power Components

Electrical Modeler

Defines a network connectivity and parameters, generating a database with all electrical information necessary to execute analysis algorithms.

Data Model Objects

Organizes the assets' hierarchy in the plant, linking real time data information and power devices, such as Transformers, Breakers, Bays, Switches, etc. It also provides a structure to receive values from other information sources, such as operator entries, calculated data, data from billing systems, data from other Control Centers, etc.

Screen Objects

Elipse Power automatically generates SCADA screens representing a substation, a circuit or an entire network by using object libraries that can be changed to address specific needs. Those screens can be modified and re-imported later, and only the affected components are changed.

PowerExplorer Window

The PowerExplorer window is available at run time and displays all analog and discrete measurements of the selected object, allowing to change values for Operator-type sources.

Electrical Study Modules

With modules designed to fit the needs of each type of installation, Elipse Power applies advanced algorithms to provide valuable information, allowing to keep the network up in an efficient way and with great availability.

Topology Processor

Responsible for processing and building the system's topology, detecting existing paths in the electric power network. It enables users to analyze which elements are energized or not, by coloring components according to the voltage level. It also calculates online indicators such as the number of de-energized customers and unattended load.

Power Flow

Calculates the electric status, voltage module and angle for each node, active or reactive power flow circulating in network branches, and active or reactive power injected or absorbed by the nodes. This algorithm enables the execution of simulations of control actions over an electric power system, such as transformers tap change, generation and loads increase or decrease, capacitor and reactor banks turn on or off.

Load Shedding

Module responsible for preventing critical industrial process, which have redundant power energy supply systems, to be interrupted during the occurrence of unplanned events, avoiding losses relative to start-up time and raw material reprocessing. For this, the shedding module calculates the exact amount of low priority loads which must be instantaneously shut down when unplanned events occur, adjusting the power system load to the capacity of the remaining provider system and avoiding transient stability and overload problems of the provider system. This module is capable of working with standard IEC 61850 protection relays, using GOOSE messages to detect events which need a shedding action, such as opening a transmission line, turning off generator units, or a frequency deviation in the electric island, as well as commanding the immediate shut down of the selected loads for shedding.
