A number can be presented in scientific notation (mantissa and exponent) when after any digit there is an E+, E-, e-, or e+, followed by digits to format the exponent. When using E+ or e+, the exponent is displayed with a sign, and when using E- or e-, the sign appears only for negative exponents. The exponent always displays a digit, even if it is 0 (zero). The number of digits right to the decimal place affects the displayed exponent. The next table contains examples of values formatted using a scientific format.
