Driver Configuration |
The [P] configuration parameters can be ignored and left in 0 (zero). This Driver can be configured on the configuration window of an Elipse E3, Elipse Power, or Elipse Water application and, when added to an application, it is loaded with the default configuration for extra parameters for serial port, that is, speed of 9600 bps, 8 (eight) data bits, 1 (one) stop bit, and no parity check. These settings are already in accordance with the definitions of model 999 protocol, and normally they do not need to be changed.
Possibly the address of the serial port can be changed to the address to which users must establish communication, that is, COM2, COM3, and so on. The time-out is already defined as 1000 ms, but this configuration is rather arbitrary relative to requirements of an application.
A device can also be configured with another transmission speed. If that speed is configured below 9600 bps without any special reason, it is recommended to change that configuration on the device to match the speed configured in this Driver.
For other physical layers, the configuration of extra parameters must be carefully observed to meet communication requirements.
