The Siemens Freeport Driver, when added to an application project, is loaded with the default configuration of extra parameters for serial port, that is, baud rate of 9600 bps, 8 (eight) data bits, 1 (one) stop bit, and no parity check. These settings comply with Freeport protocol definitions and by default they do not need any changes.

The address for the serial port may be changed for the address to establish communication, such as COM2, COM3, and so on, as well as the baud rate if users want to use the Comunica_v303_19200_PortX ladder. The time-out is already set to 1000 ms, but this value is arbitrary and depends on the requirements of an application.
